Translation and localization

General Translations

The translation of general texts, performed by a single translator and aimed to convey general information, business communications, e-mails, in-house documents, texts with a non-decisive impact on the course of business, useful if mainly intended for exchange of information, not for publication purposes.

This category also includes the certified translation of administrative or standard documents, in relation to which we provide NOTARISATION AND APPOSTILE SERVICES AS WELL.

Specialist Translations

Translation of specialist texts from various areas of specialisation (technical, financial, banking, medical, legal), performed by a two-member team consisting of a proofreader and a translator, with considerable expertise in professional translations.

This approach is preferable in the European Union states and recommendable particularly if you seek the utmost accuracy for the ordered translations; it is best suited for technical documentation, business documents, user guides, statements of work, training courses, tender books, bidding documentation, financial reports, geotechnical investigations, medical reports, agreements, quotations, etc., for which the terminological unit, the ability to best convey the meaning of the source text, the accuracy and clarity are of the essence.

The biterness of poor quality...

Transcreation entails the complete re-writing of a text into a foreign language. It is basically a creative translation service. This creation process undergoes several revision stages, with the customer’s active participation through constructive comments, input and feedback. Transcreation is congenial to advertising materials, marketing and sales, complex presentations, corporate guidelines or literary texts.

Language localization is a complex translation process which involves the cultural and linguistic adaptation of a translated text to a particular country, region or target group. Localization is done by regions or countries which speak the same language, however in different dialects. As such, the selection of the most appropriate words and idioms, grammar structures and phrasing is based on the specificity of the language spoken in the respective area, so that the message can be adjusted to the local level of understanding.

The localization process includes graphic adaptation, conversion to local currency, use of the appropriate date and time format, addresses and phone numbers, compliance with the local traditions and customs, forms of address, to name only a few..

The localization process is related to the translation of software, video games and websites. Moreover, this service ensures a compliant conveyance of specific messages while capturing your company’s style, the relevancy of the marketing and advertising documents and the efficiency of the sales materials and newsletters.

This complex service involves translation, proofreading and editing services performed by specialized translators and proofreaders, chiefly native translators living in the target area, backed by extensive experience in professional translations. You can count on us to render the message and style of your company when it comes to cultural adaptation to the specificities of the local environment.

DTP (Desktop Publishing) involves editing and processing services intended to ensure the graphic insertion of texts and images by means of specific software.

DTP services are expedient to complex documents which include images, texts or graphics, such as: technical specifications, technical manuals, magazines, presentation catalogues, advertising materials, books and brochures destined to your customers, partners, employees or readers, we can preserve or recreate the initial layout and formatting across multiple languages and target audiences and markets. By all means, the translated document will be delivered in the exact format as received.

More importantly, you can use a combo of integrated professional services, translation-transcreation-localization-DTP offered by TRANSLATOR srl, to preserve both the image and the consistency and power of your initial message, regardless of the alphabet used.

Our specialist team employs DTP dedicated software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress, Corel Draw).

When does your translation project require DTP?

If you translate a PDF, a manual, a booklet or any other material which contains images or a preset layout, you need DTP services.

Post-translation desktop publishing entails the reconstruction of your document to a greater or lesser extent.

Once the translation is completed, it has to be inserted into a set layout. A simple “paste” command will not do the trick, given that translated text expands (often sentence length increases by 30% or more).

Here are some examples of how the length of the text changes depending on the combination of languages.

Source Language Target Language Text Expansion Text Contraction Note
English Romanian 10-20%   Text expands when translated into Romanian
Romanian English 10-15% Text contracts when translated from Romanian
English Franch 15-20%   Text expands when translated into French
French English 10-15% Text expands when translated from French
English Italian 15%   Does not apply to technical content
Italian English 15% Does not apply to technical content
English German 5-40% There are less German words but they are longer, so text can expand greatly
German  English 5-20% There are more words in English than in German
English Spanish 25% Depending on content type
Spanish English 15% Depending on content type
English  Finnish 20-30% Finnish grammar varies greatly from English (lacks pronouns and articles)
Finnish English  30-40% Due to pronouns and articles
English  Japanese 20-60% Counts each letter instead of words (varies based on subject)
Japanese English  10-55% Significant alphabet and grammar differences

Final quality control

Our reviewers do a final proof of document and graphic files before they go to print or are published, to ensure that the content was not altered or distorted in any way during the DTP process and that the final version closely resembles the source material.

Relying on our extensive participatory experience in conferences, national and international congresses, seminars or business meetings, we would like to offer you our assistance in organising various business events:

  • Conference
  • Congresses
  • Seminars

  • Product and service realises

For the international events that we plan, we ensure interpretation and equipment rental services, catering services, IT services, the best venue - in a nutshell: complete planning of the event.

The interpretation services are exclusively restricted to oral communication: they involve the conveyance of a message from one language into another, in a natural and fluent manner, assuming the speaker’s rhetorical style, tone and persuasion skills.

What is consecutive interpreting?

The consecutive interpretation services address a limited audience. The interpreter addresses the audience directly, without using any special technical equipment. The interpreter is among the participants, listens to their input and conveys the contents into the target language, generally based on the notes taken. In practice, this form of interpretation services proves useful in a certain range of situations, such as highly technical meetings, work lunches, negotiations, reunions with a limited number of participants, on-site visits, assistance in Court, at the Trade Register, before the Registrar or the Notary Public, in order to sign notarial instruments.

What is simultaneous interpreting?

The simultaneous interpretation services address a larger audience, and make use of special technical equipment and the assistance of a sound technician. The interpreters work in tandem, in a soundproof booth. In the conference hall, the speaker uses a microphone; the interpreter receives the sound through the headphones and conveys the message almost simultaneously, also through the microphone. This form of interpreting services is recommendable for complex and public events, such as conferences, congresses, workshops, training courses delivered by foreign lecturers.

Interpretation equipment rental

Organizing a multicultural and multilingual event is a real challenge, and choosing the proper technology and audio equipment to ensure the optimal working variants makes the difference between success and failure.

The interpretation equipment that ensures the real time contact between the audience and the foreign language interpreters should be perfectly compatible to the existing infrastructure.

Should you need soundproof booths, a technical team or the complete sound equipment for your location, TRANSLATOR srl makes sure that your event goes on smoothly.

We offer turnkey event solutions

After discussing all aspects and based on our expertise we will recommend the most suitable service for your event:
